Livio Sassetti, the north side of Montalcino intact and compact, bottled since 1915

For over 3 generations the Pertimali Sassetticompany has been bottling great wines in Montalcino telling them with passion and tenacity all over the world.

Located on the northern side of the splendid municipality of Val d’Orcia, the farm can be reached from the road that crosses the town and passes under Porta Burelli.

Pertimali Sassetti boasts an extension of 16 hectares of vineyards in the Montosoli area with South-East exposure, the best for producing fine and elegant wines.

Here part of the history of Montalcino was written and continues to do so.

In fact, back in 1967 Livio Sassetti actively participated in the growth of the Ilcinese area, founding the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium with other historical names.

Today it is Lorenzo and Sabina Sassetti who lead the family business with the help of a very close-knit team.

The tasting outside with a view of Montosoli.

The attention to the history in the company is very high, every year several bottles are set aside and help to feed the wall of this liquid bookcase made of more or less large thousandths for the criticism but certainly different and unique in their being different.

The wines produced in the company are rich in personality, have a graceful soul that reflects the united family and the ideals of life of Lorenzo and Sabina.

Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva and a few years ago the Riserva 10 anni are the wines that always produce with the highest quality standards.

Talking with Lorenzo about the agronomic and oenological part is an experience that does not happen often. Country man receives many useful tips from father Livio and treasures them by putting them into practice in modern viticulture not too different from that always practiced in the company.

In the vineyard he tries to reach the perfect ripeness of the polyphenols of the grapes without ever losing sight of the sugar increase which will obviously translate into the alcohol content of the wines.

He is always among the last to harvest because according to Lorenzo, if the grapes hold up and the values are positive, maturity on the plant always pays.

In the cellar there is little to do, the wines ferment in steel and follow different maceration times according to the characteristics of the different vintages.

The aging of the wines takes place in Slavonian oak barrels of different sizes for about 30/36 months.

They are then stripped and racked into Slavonian oak barrels of different sizes to follow the refinement to be regulated.

I always gladly come back to Pertimali Sassetti and I love to taste the wines produced in this company which combines well, history, charm, inspiration, talent and genius of two humble and rich young producers in a kind soul.

During the last visit on the occasion of the previews of the 2017 vintage, the vertical of several thousandths for tasting was exciting:
